I have, over time, witnessed a certain "lived in" look is better for breeding attempts, instead of a nice clean "sterile" cage.
I have a nice Butterscotch Ghost male, that when placed in a cage that has been recently cleaned (no feces, no spilled water, no recent shed) will not attempt any activity at all with the female of that cage. Now, take the same male, and put him in with a female that has shed, spilled her water or has feces in her cage, he is just nuts about her. As these pictures show.
Am I saying, keep your cages dirty? No, I am saying if you have a male that isn't interested in breeding activity, try something different. This works for this male.
I have a Spider Male, that I have yet found what gets him to "kick in" but I haven't given up. Still trying to figure out what makes him horny. And I pray it ain't no male snakes!!
