Dwarf Yellow Headed Gecko

mortaltreason777 Mar 30, 2006 09:31 AM

I was wondering if anybody has any care info on this species? I just got one for free from work. He came in missing a foot, so I took him in, but I can't find any info on the little guy. Any info would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

You are probably talking about Lygodactylus luteopicturatus, a little yellow-headed gecko (at least in the case of the males) that is imported from Tanzania. When warm and happy, the males have bright yellow heads and bodies that are a sort of blue-gray. The females generally lack the yellow heads and are more brown.

I like these guys, and I have a couple in a small tropical vivarium. They are a good example that interesting lizards don't have to expensive.

There is a good care sheet at: www.wildeyereptiles.com/catalog/yellow_head.htm

Thanks Mike! I read that care sheet, and mine seem to be doin great! I have one question though, do they need UVB?

Yes! Absolutely. They like to bask and will benefit from UVB.
