Enclosure question

jasonw Mar 30, 2006 11:40 AM

Hi. I was just sitting here looking at my boas and started wandering how long they could stay in there current enclosures before needing to be moved up so to speak. Shadow is in a 40G, she can just about stretch all the way across it now. Spirit is in a 55G and well he is only about 2’. How long can they both stay in there do you recommend

it seems like i am the only one to reply to your posts but anyway ...

... my general rule of thumb is one square foot of floor space per one foot length of snake. so i would keep a snake up to 8' in a 4'x2' cage. however for more robust snakes such as large females i give them more room, like a 6'x2' cage.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a good rule of thumb and better yet I can aply it to all my snakes
