Rats, rats, and rats - humor

bps516 Mar 30, 2006 01:14 PM

And now an attempt to throw some humor out there.

To set the stage my wife works at a pet store (chain). She is proud of the store she works at and works hard to help with reptile and other issues outside of her normal 'work responsiblities'. Most of the time if she is there she is called to help with escapees and other handling duties since she has no problem with reptiles, rodents, etc. The store manager noticed a rat that had somehow escaped from its enclosure and got it caged - standard glass with screen top; and put off to the side for someone to move it back into its proper enclosure. He knows NOTHING about animals so he has the staff that knows where to put it handle recaging (I think the male, female thing throws him off, not the smartest guy), anyway he was proud of his accomplishment and left a note for someone to please put it back in its correct enclosure. There was just one slight problem...

They had no rats escape.

With a little creativity, you could spin this into a great urban legend. Here are my top five endings.

5. ... The kid left home with the rat in a little box, but was never seen again.

4. ... and when they found the manager, he was hiding under 30 bags of aspen bedding.

3. ... and when my wife returned to the store, a bloody hook was hanging on the door of every cage.

2. ... According the report from the university, the blood was a direct match to the blood of human beings. They even used it to give some kid a transfusion.

1. ... so he got a female, a label maker, made up a fancy sounding name, claimed it was from Africa, and tricked thousands of ball python owners into thinking that it would solve all of their problems with picky eaters.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.
