First Eggs Of 2006. Hoping for Albinos

Albey Mar 30, 2006 02:27 PM

In 2002 I purchase a pair of Het For Albinos from Brian at BHB. This was my first year breeding them. Last Wednesday night 3/23/06 when I was feeding my Leopard Geckos I noticed my Het For Albino Female was in the process of laying her eggs. I know a lot of people will take the opportunity to get a few photos of the laying process but I just cant bring myself to do it. Some things just need to be done in private. LOL Any way the next morning when I woke up she had finished her work and here is a picture of the proud mom.

As I was taking pictures she was very intent on seeing what I was up to as this next picture shows.

I think by now she was sure that I was up to no good and was letting me know in no uncertain terms, don’t mess with me. Ha Ha

Actually she was quite the little lady and let me remove her from the eggs. Here are the six beauties that she had laid.

When she started to breed this year she was at 1700 grams and the six eggs that were laid weighed 637 grams in total.

Laying such a heavy clutch definitely took its toll on her. She lost quite a bit of weight. I have been told many Females wont start eating again until they shed and the cage has been cleaned so she cannot smell her eggs but last year both of the Females that laid eggs ate right away. I am hoping she will do the same so she can get back to the beautiful figure she once had. LOL

Here are her eggs in there new home for the next two months. I hope to be updating you then with pictures of a few pretty Albinos.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Some normals (or Hets in this case) just have a nice, pleasant look about them. I think your female has some nice colors and pattern, very cool, and a het too! Good luck on your odds.

Congrats on the eggs. I also have a 2002 het albino female from BHB and it has a very similar look to yours. Nice color and lots of blushing. From the looks of mine she is approaching ovulation soon. I also did het x het.

Good luck with your odds,
Tom

Wash the tub with mild soap and water, and wash the snake. I use a diluted dish soap on my hands, rub the lather on the snake, focusing on the belly, rinse and dry. With most of mine I offer food within a week and none have refused yet!

That female het Albino is a real beauty. I hope some of her offspring have her pattern.

I checked out your site and it is great ... definitely cool

Best of luck Albey!!

I would like to thank everybody for the many kind words. It is funny that everyone remarked on how nice looking she is. With all of the morphs I have collected in the last few years it sometimes slips by you how great looking normal Ball pythons can be. Now if she somehow passes on the good looks to her offspring I will be very happy. LOL

Thanks again,
Albey
