What to do with the sheddings????

rainbowsrus Mar 30, 2006 04:25 PM

I have been saving the best sheddings from my oldest boa for 16 plus years. Only the best ones are kept, those that are not torn, not messed in and found still fresh.

I painstakingly turn them rightside out. Carefully straighten them, blow air inside and see that they settle out flat and straight. Then place magazines on top to press them flat. They are allowed to dry with the magazines on top.

Finally they come to my office at work. The longest is 12 feet long, the boa is between 10 and 11 feet.

Makes for a lot of conversations, many start with "Where'd you kill all those snakes?" which get quickly and politely corrected.

I keep the good ones to but never thought to put them on the wall I think the wife would kill me.
Great idea
Jeremy

I like how you show the same pattern with the yellow yarn as the snake progressed.

Thanks, Good eye for noticing the yellow string. I use it to show people these are sheddings and that they are from the same snake.

The whole thing pretty much covers one whole wall of my office at work. So far no complaints. But I used to know a lady that refused to come in my office, she'd stand outside the door and call for me to come out. She was deathly afraid of snakes, something about her brothers taesing her with one when she was little.

It was hard to photograph, I need a wider angle lens.
