Hello everyone,
For some time I have been very interested in purchasing a Red Blood Python. Before jumping in on my impulses, however, I wanted to do some homework and see if I could properly accommodate and care for one of these snakes. My problem is that I've looked online and found multiple sources all of whom are giving me different information regarding appropriate cage size, temps, humidity, etc. I’ve read these snakes average around 4’11” while others say they can easily reach 10’. I’ve also read they can be maintained in a 48”X24”X24” while another webpage will recommend a 6’ long enclosure! I have about 6 years experience working with Ball Pythons, corn snakes, king snakes, and milk snakes, I think I’m ready for one of these big guys (I just want to clarify some stuff). I LOVE the look of Blood Pythons though; I've really got to have one! Can someone please give me some straight answers on how big these snakes get, how large their enclosures need to be, what temps they require, etc. A good book or webpage would even be great. This is another big responsibility and I want to be sure that I have my facts straight. Thanks for your time and help,
_Wayne.
