Goliath frog

ajd Mar 30, 2006 07:46 PM

Tell me does anyone know of someone who is breeding the goliath frog (Conraua goliath). I've been researching about them and I am interested in their care and captive breeding. I am also interested in starting a breeding project for them.

I am also interested in the Giant African Pixi Frog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) so if you are aware of someone who breeds and sells these I would also be interested.

Please if you have any information please tell me.

Thank you

AJ

Goliath frogs are restricted by their home country; they are endangered. They have never been sucessfully bred in captivity, nor has any zoo been able to keep them alive for more than 5 years. If you see any in the pet trade they are probably smuggled out, and should not be purchased as this creates a demand for them. Last time one was offered, it was about $3000.00. Try to stick to frogs that are not endangered; if you love frogs then you will want to protect them.
