Sonoran Gopher breeding season questions

jimburke27 Mar 30, 2006 08:37 PM

Hello. I have a pair of Sonoran Gopher Snakes that I just pulled out of hibernation on March 5th. I live in Upstate New York. My female is currently going through her post-hibernation shed. I wonder:

How long is the breeding season for Sonoran Gopher Snakes?

When is the peak time to breed Sonoran Gophers?

I just want to make sure that my breeding pair will breed successfully when I put them together.

Is there any cut-off date in which I should just breed the two, even if my female isn't 100% fattened up first (from feeding)?

I would appreciate any helpful feedback.

Is there any end to the spring breeding season or can a female get pregnant anytime during the warmer months of the year?

If there is an end to the peak breeding season, when is it?

Any feedback would be appreaciated.

I'm guessing from my experiances. I would say if nothing happens after around 16 weeks from burmation, probley nothing will.

Good luck

jason
