albino ball question?????

evercraig190 Mar 30, 2006 08:45 PM

hi all, im planning a trip to Daytona this year and I am very interested in buying an albino ball. My question is about how much am i looking to spend. I think a male would possibly be cheaper but maybe not. If it makes a difference, i am looking to buy a hatchling/new born. I have seen the ads on kingsnake but i was wondering if prices would be the same at the show. I am driving 16 hours to get there so i need some insite on what to expect and how much money to bring...

Thanks,

Craig

Look at the classified section, and expect the same at the show. Now you might be able to bring the price down a bit, with a little negotiation, but that all depends on your negotiation techniques, see me i have non, so most of the time i pay full price. LOL. To be honest with you what is $50 off the market price, if you like what you buy, then really that $50 is nothing. Go to the show, talk to breeders, look at animals, buy your albino, and enjoy your new friend.

Thats a good question. I have heard the prices at daytona are about the same as the kingsnake prices. Smaller shows might have better prices, because of the smaller market, but for the most part I would be willing to bet most vendors expect premium buyers at the daytona show.

Thanks for the replies...but as i look at the price of albinos, the hets look a lot cheaper and possibly a better investment for the money...its all about the money...

If you are getting into it for the money, buy hets. If you are getting into it because you really like Albinos, get either a female albino or even a pair. Yeah, a pair will set you back $2500-$4500, but you are going to get all albinos when bred together. Plus, it is what you want. I really like Albinos, so I bought a pair. I'll be lucky to make my money back on them, but who cares, they are gorgeous!

If you get a female, you can raise her up and a year later get you a male, then when the female is ready to go, the male will be too. Might save you a few hundred dollars.

In my experience with the Daytona show, it is a sellers market. I thought it was fairly high priced for the competition, but these breeders know that people are coming from all around the globe to BUY, so they can make some serious money. The selection can not be beat though, as all the good breeders(and bad ones) are there, so choices are more.

I would say expect to pay anywhere from $1500 to $2500 for a single albino, maybe a hair more for females. Of course, shop around and you MAY find a better deal.

My two BHB albinos from Ectothermics:

dude your right, thanks for the opinion...i think i will at least buy a female when i go...i know a guy that will sell me one for 1500 and he is very reliable so i think that is what I'll do... and then I'll save up for a male afterwards...i really want just one to show in my house in a really equisite cage, but if i can breed some, then i might as well..ive already started my albino boa project, so ill start an albino ball project...thanks again...
