tortoise sweating

smeese Mar 30, 2006 10:06 PM

Lately I have noticed a bit of condensation on the shell of one of my three tortoises shells. The torts I have are cherry heads and are a adult breeding trio. Plesae let me know if you have a similiar siruation or know what this is. Thanks Steve~

I have no idea that it is... but I guarantee you 100% that is cannot be sweat. Reptiles don't have sweat glands.

Well yeah obviously. I guess condensation would have been a better word to describe, but it looks like it is sweating and it is always on the same one? Sincerly...confused in MN

is this topic labeled "HOT" because it creates a pun with the subject line? i don't get it.

if you are seeing condensation on your tortoise, then my guess is the one tortoise that condenses water on its carapace is much cooler than the others. then when thethe torts are exposed to water vapor in warmer air (warmer than the torts body temp), you get condensation on the cooler tortoise. either that or you have the first sweating reptile and you should breed it as a new and very expensive morph. ;^)
