Kerby, please advise...

How does the blizzard trait work ? Is this a simple recessive gene or a combination of several? I already own one of these beautiful animals and I am looking at buying a breeding pair where the male is blizzard and the female is said het for it, but figured you could give me some info on it before i did.

Thanks in advance your sharing your immense knowledge and wise advise on this..( is that enough butt kissing to get a good answer..lol )

Sorry for my bad typing and word outlay in that previous post..I just reread it..woohhheee, it has been a long day and after seeing that I shall go to bed! Oh well, you get the jest of my question. If anyone else knows feel free to chime right in on it too!

I am no king genetics wiz but let me give it a crack. I would assume blizzard as in other snakes is a combination of 2 genes. Most likely a form of amel and a form of anery of some type. But since I don't know the exact genetics we will call them genes 1,2, and 3 (being blizzard) So your blizzard is homozygous for genes 1 and 2 giving it the blizzard apearance (#3) so if you breed it to a het you will get 4 types of babies. 25% gene 1, 25% gene 2, 25% gene 3, and 25% normals. This is assuming the genes are all simple recessive. But I doubt that any of the genes are dominant. I hope I was at least a little help. Like I said, I know nothing at all about king specific genes.

Thanks for your input on that. I was figuring along those lines, but before I invest with a goal of producing blizzards I certainly wanted to understand the genetics of it better. I have quite a variety of cals building in my collection and the genetics of them are something I want to FULLY understand.

Thanks again.
