New owner and very concern

wing Mar 31, 2006 06:32 AM

Hi all,

I just got two very nice BD's and thsi is their 3rd day with me. This is the first time that I'll be taking care of BD's. Usually I care for monitors, tropical lizards, turtles, tortoises, and snakes but never a desert lizard. I am concern because on the first day, they let me touch them. They are just there laying on my palm and shoulder BUT when I hold them incorrectly (no support for front and back feet) they become active and wants to get away so that's always a good sign. They have a good sized cage with right temp and lighting but they don't usually run around and get curious. they are for the most part resting and laying around hiding. And the other one I got saoks in the water dish... And since they are comfortable being touched on the first day, I gave them greens and shreded carrots on the second day (afternoon) and they didn't eat.

Is this normal? PLEASE any input will be so much of a help. I don't want these dragons to die. They are so beautiful and sweet.

Since they are now in a new home, its somewhat normal. They are just trying to get used to the new surroundings. Give them a few more days to get the hang of things and they should be fine. My newest female was like that for approx 1 week but once she got used to everything she perked right up and made herself at home. Good Luck!
