Man Crashes Car After Snake Attacks Him

bps516 Mar 31, 2006 10:53 AM

NAPLES, Fla. — A man crashed his car after a pet snake he had wrapped around his neck began attacking him, authorities said.

Witnesses reported that Courtland Page Johnson, 30, of East Naples, was driving erratically and crashed his PT Cruiser into several barricades about 9 p.m. Tuesday. He got out of his car, wrestled with the snake and then drove off, reports said.

When authorities caught up with Johnson at his home, he told them he crashed into another car that had stopped short in front of him. After questioning, Johnson admitted he panicked when his snake bit him.

He had cuts and freshly dried blood on his body, but did not need medical attention, reports said.

Johnson was charged with leaving the scene of a crash.

Every other week something that has to do negatively with snakes is happening.

Who the heck drives around with a loose snake in their car anyway?

All of us get painted with the same brush this numbskull does in the eyes of the public.

BurmMania Apr 02, 2006 08:23 PM

I also hear of these freak accidents with reptiles all the time, and also wonder...........who the hell does that??? I hear of some weird stuff, like a burm eating an infant, and just wonder why the parents let the burm roam free with infants in the house?? I dont care if its the best tempered snake in the world, you use precaution people!!!! Keep in mind that it may be a very very "friendly" snake (for lack of a better term), but it still has a brain the size of a peanut so cut it some slack and just use precaution. Better safe than sorry. This idiot deserved a car crash to teach him a lesson. I know thats a harsh statement but I think its the truth

Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.
