Question about Color

IguanaMama Mar 31, 2006 01:37 PM

I bought a hybrid baby (don't worry, no plans to breed, pet only) so I'm not sure what it will look like as an adult. I have been watching it turn from tans/greys to blues/greens. It is still in an intermediate color phase. My question is since it is showing blues mostly, will it be a blue adult, or do reds develop later? The father had plenty of red in him, but the mother, who knows? By the way, he is the most amazingly gorgeous turquoise at such a young age. Is this indicative that he will be a gorgeous adult? I hope so!

I should note the father is red ambilobe and mother is probably blue ambilobe.

Hi there,

To be honest with you, you can never quite predict what a chameleon will turn out to be. Mature adult males have suddenly changed the color of their background and barring. I know my cham has done it often. I would say he'll likely have alot of Blues, reds, greens, and perhaps yellows in him as well, What color is his barring?! Would you happen to have any pics. Below are a few pics of my Panther (I also have a cross, he's Ambanja/Nosy-be) chameleon below. Good luck,

Michelle

you said, "I should note the father is red ambilobe and mother is probably blue ambilobe."

I might be mistaken but I was under the impression that ambilobe is not hybrid if its ambilobe X ambilobe, I think that thats just color differences. Could easily be wrong though
