I have two juvenile leopards and one of them is showing some early signs of pyramiding not as much as yours. The other is perfect. They are from the same clutch of eggs, same humidity, same diet, same substrate, same UV light. The one that is showing the pyramiding is the more rapidly growing of the two. I read somewhere and I am beginning to believe it that in the wild tortoises do not grow as quickly and in captivity they grwo quicker and that may be the culprit. Sort of makes sense if you grow your shell too quickly you may grow abnormally. I tried to feed them every other day and that was a disaster. They acted starving on the second day and ate like crazy. So now I give them a smaller amount everyday and that seems to hold them.
I saw your other question and I use 50/50 sand and dirt which I wet down every few nights. Their hide has a sponge on the roof inside that I wet daily thru a hole in the roof. How old is your leopard? Tom
I am going to try and cut back on how much I feed him-I will feed him a little less each day-I actually bought him at a pet store who said he was about 4 months old when I got him in April 05-He was probobly a little under 4 inches when I got him.I think he has grown quite a bit-in weight more than size.

Its ok, leopard tortoise, naturally pyrimid, since they use that in the wild to stay camo.
