Here's what I do.
Sex-morph-D.O.B.(mo./yr)-clutch #-sibling #(8 eggs-1-8)
example- F-hab-05022-4
But, hey. That's just me...lol
Hope it helps,
Quinton
I did something similar but also added in a designation for the source (either myself for my hatchlings or another breeder for non id'ed snakes I get elsewhere).
However, I'm thinking I perhaps should have left the genetics/morph project part out. I work with a lot of possible hets so what do you do when they prove or don't prove? Do you change the ID? Maybe make the ID with things that will not change (gender, year of hatching, clutch and individual designation, source) and then use a database to associate things that might change like known or suspected genetic status.
lol. I didn't put much thought into the whole 50/50 thing. I usually put notes under the I.D. # to keep track. Things such as Who produced it or if it's WC, proven or unproven, ect.
-Great! Now I'm thinking too much about it. I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up changing the way I do it now. thanks...j/k

Well I have a relativly small collection, but this is what I do.
I just number them as I get them or as they are heldback from the clutches I produce.
For example BP-01 All the info about BP-01 is kept as a hard copy and in my data base: hatch date, sex, aquired from, traits, color ect...
For the snakes I produce .. As I take a clutch of eggs from the females they are given a clutch number starting with WBPC (Willitts ball python clutch - Thats me) the females number and the year.
WBPC-16/06. As the snakes hatch they are given this number and I add a number at the end to change the clutch number to a hatchling number.. WBPC-16/06-01. Now I have the individual records for each snake. And if I sell a snake and some one has questions about it down the line just by looking at the hatchling number WBPC-16/06-01 I know it was from BP-16, hatched in 06 hatchling #01, without looking thru alot of paper work I can ID the snake just by it's Id #. Now if this snake becomes a hold back I go a step farther and give it the next cosecutive BP number such as BP-45. All the details of the snake are in the data base if I need them. As far as breeeding projects go..I use a colored dot in front of the snake ID on his/her box so just glancing at the box I know who's what.
Now this has been working for me for a couple of years now with no kinks yet..But I am only up to BP-75, well see how it goes from hear.
Good luck
Becky
