For us newbies, what is kinking?

ronin1360 Mar 31, 2006 09:43 PM

I keep seeing the term "kinking" come up on the forum and I'm wondering exactly what it is. I could probably guess from the name but perhaps someone could explain it? Does it affect the way the snakes move? Shorten their lives? Prevent them from breeding? I'm not sure how unpleasant it is to see a "kinked" snake, but if it isn't too bad, could someone post a picture or a link to a picture?

I know this isn't the most pleasant topic, but I would still appreciate any info. Thanks

Refers to kinking of the snakes spine. This is the only picture I could find doing a quick search. How the kink affects the snake really depends on the severity of the kink as well as location.
