What is a good cool down temp/repimen for male dry's, for sperm production?
Depends upon the species. I do not make an effort to cool down any of my D. corais, D. m melanurus, D. m unicolor or D. m rubidus, as reducing the amount of basking time and increasing the relative humidity has proven successful with such and I know of a few individuals who have actually caused the demise of their animals by cooling them down for breeding. However, I do drop the temps a bit for my D. m erebennus and D. couperi.
For the D. coupei, I tend to fluctuate the temperture a bit, to mimic the seasonal changes in South Florida. I normally allow evening temperatures to drop no lower than 55*F and allow day time temps to reach the lower 70's for a few hours, during pea daylight hours. I also allow the basking light to heat up an area outside of the hide for a few hours every other day to 85*F, to aid in the digestion of small meals I offer them during the winter months. Aas for teh D. m erebennus, I allow the daily average temperatures to drop to the mid 60's, while allowing the evening temps to drop into the upper 50's. I maintain the same basking opportunites as described for the D. couperi...
