proper size food to feed your snake

imperfectcircle Apr 01, 2006 06:05 PM

i was wondering, how to do know how big of a mouse/rat your snake can eat? i read that 'they should have no problem swallowing food of equal girth to the largest part of the snakes body." is this correct? and if i increase the size of the food should i then also incease the time before the next feeding?

also here is a picture... which type of corn is this? the breeder told me but i have forgotten! his under side is white/off-white and black checkered... fyi.

thanks in advace!

that looks like a lovely okeetee. and yes the size of food should equal the size of girth. or if you are feeding pinkies for example and you can feed 3 pinkies without a huge bulge go up to fuzzies, etc.

Yes... beautiful Okeetee or "Classic Corn", depending on who you ask, which is a normal with extra thick borders and deep coloration.
