Hey, I have a young 1.5' california kingsnake. He eats fuzzys now. I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried using different foods. I read on one site that a python owner fed his snake chicken legs and necks. Anyone else try anything like that?

If you don't mind some very foul poop you can try doing birds or fish or snake sausages (if they are available) or parts but for regular meals I will stick to rodents.

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?

I've tried thawed quails that I got from Rodent Pro. The smallest ones are about the size of hoppers. My corns took them without hesitation and were adept at swallowing them; my kings were a little more awkward with it. I didn't notice much of a difference in poop smell (I was expecting the worst after what I've heard on here), but then again, I try to keep my cages well-ventilated.

You can feed pythons, and other snakes chicken/turkey legs. A good friend of mine feeds his burmese pythons about 6 turkey legs weekly. They are very healthy, and the bone in the middle is really good for them because they can digest it, and bones are obviously a great form of calcium. I wouldn't do it every feeding, but to save money on rats, or just for convienence it is worthwhile sice these large snakes can eat constantly.
