Hiden Genetics? How to tell?

jasonw Apr 01, 2006 10:32 PM

I was wandering if anyone out there knows how to find hidden genetics, For example I have My Ghost and Motley Albino I hope to breed some day but don’t have any way of contacting the breeder and I wander if they have the possibility of offspring other than the obvious. Is there any way to tell? Maybe by certain colors or shads or patterns? Thanks a million.

no way to tell without breeding them. they say some balls have markers for certain traits but the only sure fire way to tell is through breeding. And with corns, I would just go ahead and expect something different to pop out. I had a candy cane and a normal breed. I got normals and anerys.

Only time (offspring) will tell. And often won't, when you think about it. Duffy

Well, only other way is to analyze the actual genetic code...and I don't think anybody has mapped out the cornsnake genome and figured out what everything means yet. So, I think you are out of luck for a quick way to determine hidden genes. Breeding is the only real way to do it and unfortunately that takes time (probably less time than actually mapping out the cornsnake genome would take LOL)

I do this for free too!

Send me all your corns, it will take 3-6 years to defive the genotype of the beasts. I am 87.837609837% accurate.

After the 3-6 years I will return all snakes with a report!

Hmmmmm, just so KS does not pull this. IT'S A JOKE! lol
