I have no pics of my snakes with me, but I do have a pic of my favorite alligator Bubba and me at the Chicago show several months before Bubba passed away.

Bubba was awesome, in fact everyone that met Bubba loved him. He brought a lot of happiness to children all over the country. His owner Jim Nesci puts on a wonderful educational and entertaining show at the North American Reptile Breeder Conference in Chicago. If you get a chance to go the Chicago show, don't miss Jim's reptile show.
Here's a link to Jim's site: www.coldbloodedcreatures.com/index.html

Here's Bubba and me ...

Both of you look great!

The tiger picture in the background picks up the highlights in Chrissy's hair very well. I'd think about cropping that one to remove the green wall or maybe reshooting it with some green in Chrissy's shirt to catch the green on the wall. Either way, I'm very impressed.

Gail looks great also. Bubba was a lucky guy. It's funny that I kayak in rivers, lakes, and bayous where I know that alligators are sleeping just a few feet below my kayak as I pass over them, but I was a little taken aback at the thought of hugging one of these guys. Even knowing what we know about false perceptions, we can still be surprised.

Thanks to both of you for sharing these.

You're obviously a gentleman, skilled in the art of diplomacy, but I must correct you ... It was I that was the lucky one who got to put my arms around such a wonderful animal as Bubba.

I'm not keen on photos of myself, nor of posting them, but I didn't want to see Chrissy's effort to unite women herpers to be in vain.

Unfortunately I think most people don't like to post pics of themselves. It would be fun to see more pics of female herpers, but I think it is a futile task.

But I will give Chrissy an A for effort in at least trying to get some women together on this forum.

Bill here's a pic of a beautiful female ...

Wow, that's a gorgeous little girl. Is that an official "reduced pattern" or do they call that morph some kind of stripe. In any case, she is pretty.

I'm a guy, but I would post a picture of myself with my ball python if the pictures wouldn't look so funny. There's a commercial on TV, maybe a promo for USA network, where a big, overweight guy is walking down the street with a tiny dog in his breast pocket. That's how I look with my ball python. In fact, when she was younger, she used to enjoy hanging out in my breast pocket. When she had a bad shed, I'd spray the inside of my pocket with water to make it moist, and she'd rub against the warm, wet shirt to finish her bad first shed. People have used various heat sources to do the wet cloth trick for aiding shedding, but I didn't have a thermostat to control temperatures at the time. I knew that my pocket couldn't go over 98.6 degrees.

I'm a little jealous of you getting to meet a character like Bubba. Of course, I'm jealous of Bubba as well. In any case, I'm sorry that he's passed but glad that you had the chance to meet him.

All the best,

Bill

I produced her in 2004. That's a pic of her when she was a baby ... I'll get a pic of her tomorrow and post it ... she's a very pretty Clown, they aren't all like her

I think you should post a pic of you and your ball python anyway ... maybe a few more people would post their pics then. Who cares guy, girl, transgender ...

Actually, you are pretty lucky to be able to kayak in the bayou. That is something I will only see on tv. I don't think I'll ever make it to Louisiana.

If you take any pics of the bayou, would you post them here?

the Chicago show, you have to meet Jim Nesci and his reptiles. You know when you meet him that he is very sure of his animals. Bubba was an amazing Alligator and I'm sure he was extremely special. I felt so comfortable with Bubba I hugged him and gave him a kiss on his head. You could sense from him that he wasn't nervous, he was very calm and laid back.

devi is the one in my face, when i got her they told me was very very aggressive and was striking.... she even struck at the girl behind the counter while she was coiled around my wrist... that photo was taken the same day i got her right after i got home with her.
durga is the one around my neck, he seems calm all the time.

How is it living in fayettenam anyway. Ive only been there once, to buy a snake from someone. I dont know that Ive ever really heard any good things about it. So is it really that bad???

actually yeah it can be that bad at times, i would move some where else in nc, but my mom has become sick and me and one of my sisters take turns taking care of her.... its not that bad to me i guess because i dont go out in public that much, i work in a rest home with people who are mentally ill, so im usually emotionally drained to deal with the general public, if that makes any sense.

raisnok Apr 02, 2006 09:16 PM

last night some teens were drag racing on a local street and hit a 10 y/o and an 8 y/o..... the 10yo was treated for minor injuries.....the 8yo is in the hospital in critical condition...i live in a mobile home park(yes a trailor park..LOL)
several years ago it was one of the worst places to live, but it has since been cleaned up and is a really nice place to live, im out in the country, and no one ever comes around here, plus i have signs about my dog "beware of the dog, if you get past her watch out for the snakes and spiders" sales people come to my door and read the sign and just leave....LOL

gailt Apr 02, 2006 09:29 PM

Your Mom is lucky to have you and your sister. That's wonderful that you both take care of her. And it must be very challenging to work with the mentally ill everyday. It takes a special kind of person to work helping others.

sometimes i think i am really stupid, i was working at a job making 3 dollars more an hour than what i make now.....i left that job to do this i wanted to help people and i do, most of the people love me to death, they think i am the crazy one i make it a point to make them smile while i am at work, so sometimes i get caught on my hall acting like a fool, but to know i just got some one who was hearing voices come out of it and start laughing at me makes it worth while..... i had to take 3 days off this weekend because i hurt my back thursday, i had co workers calling me because residents were asking where i was...i have one guy who has asked for me to adopt him so he can come live with me just because i am nice to him and take up time to talk to him when i am at work... so many people go to that kind of job because "its a pay check" and yeah it is, but none of those people asked to be in the situation they are in, and they need to know people do care about them.

gailt Apr 02, 2006 10:06 PM

It really does take a special person to care for others. Sometimes life can be so difficult it's hard to see past ones own problems. It has to be a wonderful feeling knowing that the people you care for appreciate you and care about you. You can go to sleep at night knowing that you have done your best each day to help your fellow man

ironic part is i really like keeping to myself, i dont like being around other people that much.....but i love going to work in the morning .....sometimes on my days off i go just to visit.
i guess thats what happenes when you have no social life.... i dont drink nor do i care to go to clubs.....

gailt Apr 03, 2006 10:12 PM

Some people just aren't nice to be around, nothing wrong with keeping to oneself. But life would be boring without animals and music. I can't think of an animal I don't like, although I'm not very keen on insects. I don't want to kill them, but I don't want them crawling all over me either

I like to spend time in Uwarrie Natl Forrest when spring hits.(Since i never take anything home with me anyway.)

Take 85 south to 109(turn left, over the bridge, towards Denton)...go through Denton....once you pass 64 start looking to the right for the National Forest sign.

There is a certain trail(2 miles worth?)that will take you to this spot.

I've seen an eastern chain king,a green tree frog, numerous other species of frogs, salamanders, turtles along the way...and there is a colony of Anoles that live in those rocks by the water.

You and Chrissy have the cutest little girls on KS

It's great how much they love the animals too. I love the picture of Sierra with the pet dumbo rat

Rats make awesome pets, it's too bad so many people think "ewww rats" .. you guys have a great family, you're very lucky
