Looking for a nice snow...

leopardgex0203 May 19, 2003 01:20 PM

i have been looking for a snow leo for a while and i have yet to find one. well i have seen a few on sites but you have to pay shipping and a 50 dollar animal and 30 dollar shipping is a bit much for me since i am now trying to save up money for the september tampa, fl reptile show so i can buy myself a few more leos. Does anybody any breeders that may be going to the tampa show in september? that have snows and other morphs. i really like Jungles, Stripes, normals(i know they are not the most exciting morph but mine produce the best eggs for me), Tangs, Patternless(my pat male is just awesome he knows his name and hes always smiling). This will be my second season breeding leos, i currently have 6 females and 2 males i am selling 2 of my females they aren't doing what is expected for breeding this year but they have a possible home already where they can roam free with other leos in the house. Thanks for any peoples suggestions.

. . . getting any decent snow for under $80.00 shipped - being as the really good white ones go for about 2x that.

A word of advice - don't buy a juvi snow, unless you are willing to take a chance. A snows not a snow until it's an adult snow - and then you are taking a chance. Most of those "snow" babies tend to turn yellow when they grow up.

Good luck though. I hope you do find a great snow. They are extremely cool looking leos.

Do you know anybody who has any snows at all, no matter what the price is?

Albey's "too cool" reptiles offers them for sale online every now and then. I tend to trust his snows, because they are usually offered as an adult.

This is not to rip anyone who buys or sells a snow juvi - but personally, I wouldn't buy one until they are at least sub-adult age - because they can and do yellow up quite a bit.

I had one of my melanistic females go from really dark to high yellow during the breeding season - go figure. You just have to be very careful with snows.

If you do find others - let me know. I really think they are cool, too.

I have been watching Albey's site. He had a couple a while ago, but I didn't get any because it was when they were just starting to become popular, now I can't find them anywhere.

I will post the site if I find any.

Thanks

The nicest snow that I've seen... grey, white and black...no yellow. Was in the classefieds here last year.
But if $50 is out of your price range you're probably not going to find any.

That single leo in the classifides was $250. =/

He does not have any available at this time and said that for some reason his females were holding on to their eggs but he has several that are gravid they just will not lay them.
He said that he wishes he had some though because he gets atleast 5 e-mails a week. I have seen them in person quite a few times and they truly are the purest looking snows that I have ever seen.
Thanks
