A little more than tail whipping

William_A Apr 02, 2006 08:47 AM

This is a '99 female with my '03 male. He was asked to step up to the plate this year, because the "male" I picked up to breed with her turned out to be a "female". The three have been going at it off and on for the past week. The '03 male seemed more than willing to take on the task.

Now there's a sight for sore eyes! Looks like you have yourself a champion young male on your hands. Congrats!

Don't feel alone with that miss-sexed animal. I've experienced that myself more than once. It really hurts when someone who should be one of the most experienced and knowledgeable delivers you a miss-sexed animal that cost you a small fortune. It's not that difficult to probe several times to be certain you aren't making a costly mistake for someone that just gave you a ton of money.

Good luck with that pair!

Mike

Thanks. This time the mis-probe worked out in my favor with this guy stepping up. Several of his siblings were very nice white leonis phase, and hey i ended up with two adult females to try him out on. So it actually worked out very well. I just can't wait to see the outcome. I'll post some pics if either of the matches works out.
Thanks,
William

When I got this guy that was the first thing I thought. This is one of it's siblings. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,

I guess that's what I thought too from that 1st pic. The black head is what does it I suppose.
You'll get some nice babies.

I am still unsure about the male above and would like some thoughts from you guys on this guy. Thayeri? Ruthveni? Cross? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fairly new to Mexicana and would like to be able to represent what I have as honest as possible. Here are a few more shots.
Thanks,
William

Was plying her wares in the breeding tank last night and I caught her hooked up three times with 2 different males.

She was crawling around with her tail stuck straight up for about 3 hours before she got enough. Both a leonis and an MSP male were all to happy to fix her.

Sorry about the quality of the pic.

...I at least wanted to comment on this pic. LOVE the long shadow effect! A quality shadow-effect photo like this one is sometimes much more appealing than even the very best of the well-managed "no shadow" images.

This one is very cool... long shadows with I would assume a low early morning or evening sun... prtially obscured subject resting in the shadow... NICE!

And kudos to that champion female!

Mike
