Any opinions on this?

I found this on another website and wanted to know what other people thought of this.

Thanks,
Kyle

I'm a prior 12-ft Burmese Python owner with NO OBJECTION to feeding life animals (including bunnies) to snakes. But after getting tired of paying for rats, I tried something new: chicken legs! If you warm up a (non-frozen) drumstick for 45 seconds, your snake will love it. Drop it quick though, you might lose a finger if you don't... Really! No chance of injury to your snake, either!

this is in or around San Diego

my burm that I had in NY used to eat a 12pk chicken legs a week she loved them but you are at higher risk for salmonella if she bites you. just food for thought (no pun intended)

just because you can, doesn't mean you should. snakes might eat bacon and ice cream as well, but that doesn't make it a nutritious choice. stick with whole foods, of which chicken legs are not.

I know people that feed whole freshly killed chickens ( feathers and all etc.) to burms but not just feeding grocery store chicken. I have been told that there is a risk of the snake getting salmonella poisoning that way too.

They are not getting the gut contents that whole foods give them. Snakes get there vitamons/minerals etc from the gut contents of their prey. The chicken legs are not detrimental in them selves but over time lack of vitamins and minerals stored in the stomach and intestines of the prey animal would be. I do know that people, myself included, use chicken legs to help fatten up snakes that are thin, coming off feed or after breeding season/laying eggs.

Visual Morphs?....I love the normal looks. You can't improve on nature, you can only produce "interesting deviations".
