hey all, i have some questions.

hawiiangecko Apr 02, 2006 09:09 PM

it's been some time since i last posted on here. i have a pair of BCI that i was plannning on breeding last october but i just didnt think she was old enough so i decided to wait one more year and have been slowly trying to get her a little heavier. now, i have some questions on beforehand supplies. i will be getting a rhinorax system and i will be breeding a first time female. what system should i get, as in the rhinorax size. i dont want a 30 shoebox system if my female is only going to have 12 babies. and i know i will need food for the babies. what sized rodents should i get and should they be rats or mice? i have a carpet python and i know its a SERIOUS pain switching them from mice to rats. also i want everyone to be aware that this is a hobby for me and i, in no way, am trying to just make money off of breeding, but in no way can i keep 20 baby boas. i will be posting an add on the classifieds after i have a healthy, and ready to be sold litter, but where else can i sell them to? i was thinking of going to local reptile shows. i have no desire whatsoever to go to pet stores. god only knows when the last time those snakes ate in our local pet shop. if anyone could show some insite into my questions it would be very much appreciated!
cheers,

Lets see. You don't care about the money, and selling the babies might be a hassle to you. Why do you want to breed your pets again? What is the point? You could lose your pet too by breeding. Worse yet there is a snake that looks just like yours in the local herp rescue too. There are to many low end boas you know. Why again did you say you wanted to breed?

no offense but a hate when people do things like you just said. you took what i said and twisted it. i never said hassle, but what person can keep 20 babies perpetually after they breed? its not worth getting into an argument about. next time pay more attention to what you write and dont jump at someone for an honest qestion they ask.

ohh and another thing, how many people(hobbiests) with normal bci, no fancy colors, makes money breeding? from all i heard they might break even.
