crestygecko Apr 02, 2006 09:22 PM

hey all,

My veild (8 months) beagn showing signs of eggs (coloration changed ....black with graffiti and neaon green spots all over) and the pear shaped body. I put an egg deposittion site ( a 12 inch waste basket full of sand and eco earth mixer) and she walks on it, she looks at it, yet has not depositid her unfertilized eggs yet. She looks in great health, I've just never had a female take so long. Does anyone have a clue whats going on??

How long has it been since she started showing? It could take up to 6 weeks or so. In my opinion, your should seclude here from view of anything. Yourself, other chameleons, other pets. I find that plastic tall garbage cans do this well. Keep the soil/sand/substrate moist and put a plant against one side of the barrel.

Best of luck.

Just because she is showing those colors doesn't mean that she has eggs to lay....it could mean that she's non-receptive. I would still leave an egglaying site there for her though...just in case.

I have had quite a few veileds show the dark background coloration with the bright spots that have not laid eggs. Sometimes the way that they are kept has an influence on infertile egg production.
