few egg questions

thebig_j Apr 03, 2006 09:40 AM

My female laid yesterday morning 17 eggs. I wasnt ready yet and she laid them in the newspaper and I beleive all are dead. there is a possibility that one is surviving, it doesnt look dempled anymore but I have them all in the incubator right now. However my questions are, I found 2 more eggs this morning, so am i likly to keep finding some or how long will she continue to lay or should she be done. and also all of the eggs came in 2 big clumps, they ae all stuck together and i think i have heard not to try to seperate them, but will it hurt a good egg to be stuck to a bad egg or 2? I think thats all for now as I guess I will have to scratch this season off as a loss, oh well hopefully I'll get another batch or leopard gckos that I can get to hatch.

thanks
Joel

Hey!, Don't give up so soon!I've seen eggs survive that were really dimpled. They can snap back, just make sure you have a lot of humidity.I have also had eggs to hatch that were covered in mold.As far as seperating stuck together eggs, you can if they easily come apart but,if you have to use much force I wouldn't try it.Keep us updated & Good Luck! jeff

"Good" eggs don't die overnight, unless they were laid on a heating pad. The important thing is to make sure they have enough humidity in their early stages of delelopment.

You should be able to tell just by looking at the snake if it has any eggs left inside it. Snake are typically very thin after egg laying.

A bad egg won't "spoil" good eggs that it's attached to. There is no need to remove a bad egg from a cluster if it does not come off easily.

Posting is easy. Many here do it by using photobucket and posting the link. I use KingSnakes photo gallery. It is a link at the top of the page. You upload your photos, and then when you post, they will be listed at the bottom of the page and you just click on the ones that you want to insert. Good luck.

Oh, and by the way, I have leopard geckos but they are not laying. Starting to bug me a little.
