I walked around a state forest Sunday morning for a few hours. I flipped a few rocks and turned over some fallen logs. I did find a dark sided salamander ( Eurycea longicauda melanopleura ) under a rock on a glade, and a very nice rough green snake ( Opheodrys aestivus aestivus ) was basking in some brush along the trail. Not bad for not much effort and it was a beautiful day to walk through the Ozark hills.
