Cage/Reptarium Vendors

gingersteve Jul 29, 2003 10:59 AM

Ok, I know I am lazy and should build my own - but I really dont have time. Anybody got any suggestions for vendors of suitable cages/reptariums to house one rapidly growing beardie. I have looked around and seen customcagesdotcom, and cagesbydesign, but without being able to see the product in the 'flesh' it is a little difficult to make a decision on parting with that kind of cash.

Thanks in advance.

UGH! I tried those reptariums. Thought they were a great idea, but then I started using them.............

Zippers stick, loose threads, snags, and they do get holes from nails and constant climbing.

Believe it or not..... I cut mine up and used the screening for on top of bug containers!!

I just make my own glass tanks, takes about 30 minutes to put the pre cut pieces of glass together.

I kept beardies in reptariums for 2 years. I only stopped because I had no space left in my room, and they wouldn't have worked well out in the other room where the beardies are now. They are very easy to clean, you put the bag in the wash and the pipes in the dishwasher. They are easy to move. When I just had one I would easily carry it in and out daily in the summer. I now just use them as outdoor cages. I've never had the problems listed here. My only problem was that with the 65, you have 2 zippers, and you have to remember to zip both. I did forget a few times to zip one side because I usuaully didn't use it and had beardies walk out. So, if you get one with 2 zippers, I would suggest using the clips it gives you and putting them around the zipper so that you don't use that one so you can't forget to close it. Sometimes used ones come up on ebay for a good price, and there are also new ones listed most of the time.

Thanks for the posts so far - I think I am really looking for a tank type structure - didn't realize that reptarium or cage were used specifically for the mesh hanging type enclosures which I dont think will work for me -(having looked around many vendors interchange the names regardless of the actual structure)

Again, any help would be much appreciated.

I bought a reptarium from Reptiledirect.com. Best prices I could find on a reptarium. Laying flat the hundred gal. is 48in by 30in. The height is 16 1/2 in. I bought it for outside.
