Do RETFs need heat?

Doppleganger Jul 29, 2003 11:01 AM

Hey all.......I was donf a bit of research on red-eye tree frogs and found a few care sheets that said they do not typically need supplemental heating. Is this accurate? The room temp in my house is about 77-79F. Would this be sufficient for RETFs? Thanks for any help.

This excerpt from a book "Reptiles and Amphibians for Dummies" by Patricia Barlett should answer your question. Have fun and enjoy yourself with your pet!

Please do not listen to Knot or any other dummies who try to tell you that they do not need heat. I don't know how I can so strongly impress upon you that you will end up with dead frogs. I'll post the link to my site which has a RETF page and promise you it's all accurate care information. And please feel free to ask any further questions and I'll be more than happy to help in any way I can. You may need to e-mail me - if KS is gonna allow this kind of nonsense to continue to be passed around on the forum, I am going to be thinking hard about not even lurking anymore as I have been for so long. I just can not believe this utter nonsense.

Wow Becki, I didn't know you were the creator of that very useful tree frog page! Becki is right, the information of a certain person is NOT to be listened to. Becki has excellent caresheets for several popular tree frog species, including the RETF. Follow the info on her page and you can't go wrong!

laters,
Bill
