Hogg Island Boa Experience

reako45 Apr 03, 2006 08:15 PM

I have a friend who's interested in boids, but nothing BIG. Size-wise these guys seem great. However, I have a few questions. I read that they are docile? True? I read that they can be troublesome feeders. Should their cage be horizontally or vertically oriented? Thanx.

Hogs are the bomb! My hogs are some of the strongest feeders i have and they are some of most beautiful natural occuring snakes. They change colors from light to dark at different times of the day. My female was a little nippy when i first got her but she calmed down within a week. Your freind should definately get one, I can almost garauntee he will love it if he likes boas.

Hogs are great. I would highly recommend them. I keep a female
who is pregnant right now and a male. They're in 4 foot cages,
a neodesha and a vision.

They eat great. They have very strong feeding responses. They
are climbers, so vertical space is a good idea but not really
necesary. I spend a lot of time with them so they are very
tame.

Thank you all for you information and advice. It was very difficult to find species specific care sheet info on these guys. Alot of what I found was generalized boid info. Any good websites or books you guys would recommend? Thanx.
