Bathing question (for snakes!)

dangerhoax Apr 03, 2006 08:38 PM

I was just wondering how you guys bathe your burms. More specificlly at what temp. I normally mist my guy down before and during a shed, but the care fresh i keep him on dries around his mouth and aggitates him. I was thinking of filling my tub and waiting a few hours till the water is room temp. I could figure out what works through trial and error but this is my buddy and dont want to put him through anything that would be uncomfortable for him. Also i dont want to change from care fresh cause he likes to "hide" in it.

I have been keeping burms for years (some in the 20 and 30 year longevity range) and they have never soaked in a tub or anything like that; just a big water bowl for drinking. Too much soaking is detrimental to this species and instead, I would recommend focusing on maintaining high ambient humidity levels; that is far more important (as long as it coincides with fresh air flow). My burms shed in one piece and never encounter any problems.
