california kingsnake temperatures

electricbluescat Jul 29, 2003 11:11 AM

My 03 banded female het for albino came today and its 78.8 on the digital thermomentor in my room. Do I need to turn on any kind of heat? its supposed to be in the 60s tonight so I know I will need some kind of heat then. Would a radiator heater be enuff to heat the room? I was kind of wanting to save my heat pads the tanks I am getting for my snakes.

thanks,
john

78.8 probably is a bit low. I'd aim for 80-85. In any case, you'll want to set up a temperature gradient within the enclosure, allowing the snake to select his/her own optimal temperature. Assuming your room temperature will more or less equal the outside temperature, I'd set up a heating pad at one end of the container.

thanks i will more than likely heat the room with a heater and I plan getting her a 10 gallon tank soon.
