San Cristobal, Mexico (AP): A crocodile bit a 10-year-old Oregon girl in the leg while she was swimming at an ecological park in western Mexico, authorities said Sunday.
A freshwater crocodile and a Jardine River turtle share space in a tank at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Christine Hanna Harris was treated at a hospital and released, police spokesman Teodulo Guzman Puga said.
Harris and her parents were visiting from Oregon, but authorities did not know exactly where the family lives.
The girl's father, Patrick Graham Harris, 42, said his daughter was bitten Friday while swimming in the San Blas River at the San Cristobal Wildlife Sanctuary in the western state of Nayarit, which borders Jalisco, where Guadalajara is located.
