I recently purchased a male normal corn and a female white oak phase rat snake. Both snakes are about 3.5 to 4 years old.
The guy I bought them from said they breed last year. Is it possible? Any comments or suggestions?

Of course it is possible. They are first cousins. The cross makes what is loosely called "frosted corns" (a very bad name, as they are not cotrns but inter-specific hybrids. They are "ratsnakes", in the most generic sense.I have heard of a few problems in certain lines of "frosted corn", including giantism of the eye and wide patches of skin between the scales. In addition, fertility problems have been encountered. This is focused in one particular line of frosted, so that does not mean new lines of frosted would show any of these problems in later generations. If you make this cross, please post some data at the hybrid breeders association about what the results are, both in the f1 and in any later generations, if you pursued them. Such information is very valuable. I would love to hear more about other people's experiences with the "frosted corns" too. Post here or at hba in the data base. Thanks.

thank you for the reply.. like I said in my earlier post the guy I got the pair from said that they bred last year. as far as the cluth size, I do not know how many eggs were laid or how many hatchlings survived. I plan on trying to breed them in the next few days as the female in in pre shed condition right now. Any more comments are appreciated. I will keep you posted....
Definitely keep us informed if you have any success in breeding of them.
