Sweater box heating questions....

wayneb0415 Apr 04, 2006 06:28 PM

Hello everyone,
I arrived at work this morning and found that for one reason or another, a baby JCP had been abandoned overnight ( I work as a veterinary technician). I took the little snake and set her up in a 15.4 qt. sweaterbox here at the office. I'm having a hard time getting the temperature correct in her little tank, however. I've currently got a UTH sitting under the sweaterbox. How do you guys have your "sweaterbox" enclosures set up as far as heating? Do you use UTH, thermal tape, lamps, etc? What setting are these things set at and what watt bulbs are being used? She and I appreciate your help.
_Wayne.

That JCP doesn't have a bad eye by any chance, does it?

Anyhow, if you plan to keep this snake you should do some reading about it's captive care. For a heat pad use something small and under the box. Just a few inches by a few inches and make sure things don't get to hot for the snake.

I wish I could go to work and walk out with a free carpet python

Enjoy it - they are one of the coolest snakes you can own

if the temps are too high you put some layers of newspaper between the uth and the box. if the temps are too low then try turning the uth level up if you can or purchase a uth that will let you turn the levels up/down or better yet just buy one specifically for reptiles.

Hello,

I have been looking for a nice, normal phase queensland coastal for a while now. I noticed you own a female coastal. If she is decent looking and you would like to sell her, let me know.

Thanks,
