Mine did the same thing. If you are trying to feed him frozen thawed mice and he's not eating then try to feed him live mice thats what i had to do.

It's not unusual for a ball to fast for the winter months anywhere between September to April. Without knowing more about your animal, like size, age and eating habits as well as what he eats and how he is kept it would be hard to say if it were anything other than a winter fast.

he is a little over a year old and has always eaten live prey. He is almost 4ft long. He is in a 50gal tank and the temp stays between 85 and 90 24hrs a day. I have a heat light set up and it runs 12 on 12 off. He has never turned food down before except just before a shed. He shed two weeks ago and still will not eat. Hope this extra info helps.

My female has not eaten since the end of December. She was 1,096 grams in the begining of the fast and is now 990 grams. She still drinks and has perfect sheds. She should start eating soon. I still continue to offer food every week though. When she is hungry she will eat,,, I have finally gotten used to it. Does not bother me anymore. I think fasts only hurt the snake owners.

Yeah, I hear ya. I've got two females right now that have been on fast since mid-October. One ate a meal about four weeks ago, the other has steadily refused all food. They seem healthy, though... losing a little weight, but not much, and they have good muscle tone and movement. They were both up around 1200 grams in october, though, so it was about time for their first winter fast.

Still, I hope they eat soon... six months is a long friggin time to be worried about snakes. lol.

Dave.

I have two females that just started feeding this week after 160 days with no feeding at all. They are both just suddenly feeding like crazy! I live in MA and we just had the first week or so of warmer spring weather for the year and bam!
I used to worry about them alot and now I just let them do their thing. Just be patient, you'll see!
