I rescued a young CWD from a guy I know. He did not have UVB or heat lamp etc... only fed crickets w/o dusting them w/ cal. I now have him in a more suitable environment UVB, heat lamp heat pad. He is not eating. Ribs exposed. Don't know if he is drinking. I don't know a lot about lizards as I only have constrictors. Could anyone help? Links, info etc...
Thanks, Carey

i wouldn't worry about it not drinking, i have never seen mine drink and he's really healthy. i would get a really hot basking spot and lots of verticaly space, these help with their energy level. i would also try different/type of prey items, good luck and don't hesitate to ask more questions!

Oh Carey, that is so nice!!! You need uva/b lighting, heat lamps for day and night, and dump any heat mat. You also need guages to check the 83-88 day temps and 75-80 night temps, basking area can be up to 95. Humidity should be as high as possible, but if it is an older dragon and you are using bed-a-beast, you need to let the substrate dry out on occasion.

How old is s/he?? What size viv do you have available??

Hello, sorry it took so long to reply. It is a juvi. He is about 6-7" long but half his tail is gone. (crickets most likely)He has stopped eating so I talked to the pet store where the guy got him. He said force feed a couple of crickets(dusted) a day. I did then the second day when I was trying to open his mouth his bottom jaw seperated and came loose from the skin. I figure this weakness was because he has a calcium defeciency. It was injured too easily. I took him to the vet and she said he was in such poor health there was not much she could do for him. At her suggestion I am now feeding him ground up "salad" calcium and crickets. Day three he is now much more alert and looks 100% better than Saturday. I will take him back to the vet to fix his jaw. Thanks for the response.
He is in a 10 gal right now with all the requirements. Humidity is an issue so as soon as I can get to it I will build him a better enclosure. I build custom reptile enclosures (much like Boaphile and Animal plastics)
Please email me at cdeer@grandecom.net with further info on care for the little guy (Toshia is his name). Thank you very much.
