regurge problem...

toobz Apr 05, 2006 08:52 PM

I have a 3 year old male that went off-feed from about October and just recently started eating again 3 weeks ago. I fed him this Monday, and was surprised to see that he had regurgitated the rat this morning. I have not had any snakes regurge their food before so I am totally unfamiliar with the problem. Is it a symptom for something serious? Any help or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

pretty disgusting stuff huh? Ive never had a ball regurge, just some corns. But, if the temps are okay..........was the meal too big maybe. Mouse/rat not thawed enough if you go f/t. Id give it a good week at least and then try again with a small meal. If you have problems again, Id say visit the vet, might have parasites or something. Good luck,

First.... Was the temps high enough? What kind of cage do you have him in? Did you bother him at anytime from the time you fed him until you noticed he had threw up?

If everything thing above was ok, Then he might just need a dose of flagyl to straiten him up.

Or it could just be a fluke. Wait a few days and feed him again if he thorws up again then get him some flagyl that should straiten him up. Good luck. Thanks David

thank you very much for the input! yup... it was pretty disgusting... and the smell was pretty bad.

temps were normal... about 85-90 and he is in a 30 gal glass tank. tried moving him to a rack system but that only stressed him out and made him stop eating. I also have not bothered him much since being off-feed in October, I just take him out to clean his cage.

If I do try and feed and he regurges again, is flagyl easily available? is it pretty easy to administer?

thanks!
