It's basically the same as the different lines of pastels Blondes, Lemons etc. The name is used for breeders to market their animals and seperate them from the competition. Black pastels and Cinny pastels make the same super, all black patternless snake. I think both lines have the potential to make very nice supers. As far as breeding them together, I'm not sure if you could tell the difference. Again kinda like breeding a Lemon and a Blonde Pastel. You would have some nice pastels, but you couldn't say for sure which babies are which. You just need to pick the line you like and go with it. Here is a pic of a female Black Pastel I produced in 05 from CB Black Pastel male I purchased from Ian G. in 03.

Thanks for spelling it out for me. In the future I want to get a Cinny pastel to eventually breed it with another and produce an all black super. I didnt want to produce a lighter brown super like some you but a solid black super cinny. So that being said, what would you suggest? I have heard from others the black pastels and cinny pastels produce the darker supers compared to a cinny. Your opinon?

Thanks

I should produce some nice Blacks this year(hint). Brian Sharp has Black Pastels also. You can always go to the orginator of the Blacks, Ian G. That is who I got my pair from in 03.

The difference between Blacks/Cinnamons is this, they are the same "Morph" but come from different pedigrees(lines) and each possesses a slightly different allele for the same trait.

An allele is a different form of the same gene(simplified explanation), they can be very similar in appearance, or slightly different, as in the Cinnamon/Black lines, there is a variation in the Super(homozygous form) between a rich cinnamon(duh!) coloration, to a dark chocolate color(black line). This is due to the difference in alleles, as well as difference in the pedigree(ancestry).

Hope this helps,
Dan
