Panther just keeps laying, and laying...

nozebleed Apr 06, 2006 09:53 AM

Ok, Im not complaining, but I put my female in with my male 1 time, well no actually 2 just to make sure he got the job done(the next day not like a month later) and now she wont stop laying eggs! Is this normal? Ive got 3 clutches (21, 22, 26) from one mating. Or do you think that this last one is infertile? I mean Im not feeding him Enzyte or Viagra, but come on this is like months later, the first clutch was laid on 11/6/05, and i just got done digging up eggs this morning. Lol, lemme know what y'all think......

HAHA,
Your male must just have yogi bear sperm.. you know, better than the average sperm.

What a fantastically stupid joke.

lmao yeah i know right! so do you think the eggs are viable? she wouldnt be producing if there was sperm right? Im going to take care of them and hope for the best, Ill keep y'all informed.....

As long as they look good I have no doubt that they're still viable. Are they normal sized? Do they have good white color? Pretty much the question is.....do they look good? If they do, I see no reason why they shouldn't be perfectly fertile. Congrats! I wish all my females laid 3 clutches every time they bred. It sure does make life easy doesn't it?

Its not completely out of the ordinary. I'd say close to half of my females usually lay 2 clutches off of one breeding. I've only gotten 3 clutches once though. As far as them being infertile.....usually in the second and third batches are start noticing a few more than usual turning out infertile. But then again, that girl that just laid 3 clutches for me hasn't lost a single egg out of any of them yet!! Nutrition goes a long way, but my guess is genetics goes alot longer!! Congrats on your crazy fertile pair you got there.

Yeah, they look perfect, except for one. Out of the 3 clutches, one was tiny in each one. Perfectly white, sized, everything. I guess im just lucky. )

nah....no such thing as luck. Your just doing everything right!! It sounds way better when you say it this way. Trust me. lol.

You've got a wonderful female. Take good care of her. My first Panther female layed three viable clutches for each time mated. Altogether she gave me 14 clutces and most of the eggs hatched. Since she was my first, I thought all Panther females were this way. Over the next eight years, I've never had another female like her. Enjoy it!
