lele...Me, Zoe and Dill are rooting for you and Bart! (more)

icequeen Jul 29, 2003 02:23 PM

oh God lele...what a roller coaster you've been on over the last little while!!!!
We're ALL rooting for you! You take the "little things in life" (your insects, your chams...) soooo seriously!
My heart has been breaking for you each time I read a new post from you. I keep hoping for some good news...maybe Bart is that good news!
I hope so!

Remember waaaaay back...I too thought that Zoe had died.
I was holding him, and he lost ALL colour...was virtually white. He had no detectable respirations. I was holding him when this happened, and when I set him down, he just fell over onto to his side.
His eyes were shut, and even when I touched his eye turrets, there was not even a twitch.
I was panicking...and crying...and begging him to breath...the vet said probably me prodding at him and moving him around is what started his breathing again.
The vet says that it was respiratory arrest.
He also told me that if you press firmly on the top of thier snout, with your thumb, and your index finger supporting the chin, that is an accupressure point, and will supposedly start their breathing again.
of course...your guys are so little...that would probably do more harm than good to squeeze thier little noses like that.

Anyway...I just wanted to know my heart is with you on this...and I hope little Bart pulls through!!!!

Thanks Kim I gave him the glucon and few hours ago then went next door to visit with a friend or I would have just been staring at him the whole time! I haven't gotten any work or homework done for days! I was sort of afraid to come home tho' out of fear him being dead - but he's not. he is still light color, eyes closed, no movement, but he's alive. Liddy said if the glucon is going to help I will see something within 2-3 days! It is going to be an excrutiating couple days, but it's great to have you and everyone else here!

Interesting about Zoe being "dead" and about the accupressure point. But you're right, his face is pretty tiny! When I was giving him the pedialyte with the syringe (insulin syringe - it was the smallest he had) it was hard to get it back out b/c his mouth is so tiny! At least with the glucon he gave me catheter tubing which is much easier - wish I'd had that for Kaiya as I am sure she aspirated and that's what killed her. I just wish I had tried harder with Makeda...I am trying really hard not to beat myself up over all this but it sure is hard...

thanks, again
