Would it be possible to hatch an albino bateater from breeding a normal retic to an albino burmese? Just a thought.

Would it be possible to hatch an albino bateater from breeding a normal retic to an albino burmese? Just a thought.
Nick
No, that combination would produce all normal patterned bateaters that are 100% het for burmese albino. If you then bred the offspring back to an albino burm, you would get some albino hybrids, but they would be 2/3 burmese and 1/3 retic.
oh okay, I had a feeling it would not be that easy, would it be any more difficult to get an albino burm to breed with a retic than to get a normal burm to breed with a retic?
Nick
Not sure if it has been proven yet, but more than likely the amelanistic form for burmese, and for retic are non-compatible.
What this means in essence is this:
1) Albino(amel) Burmese X Normal Retic = Bateaters 100% Heterozygous for Burmese Albino
a) To produce a visual albino you would either need to breed two hets together, or breed a het back to an albino/het. albino burmese
2) Albino Retic X normal Burmese
a) same as above but the offspring would be het for Retic Albino.
3) Albino Retic X Albino Burmese
a) Progeny would be Bateaters 100% double het for Burmese Albino and Retic Albino. Breeding hets together you would have a 1/16 chance per egg of hatching a F2 Bateater exhibiting both albino traits. This would only work if the two traits are non-compatible, and don't produce a lethal pairing in the double homozygous albino bateaters.
Hope this helps, not even sure myself if the Bateaters(F1) are fertile(which would allow you to cross back to parent species or with each other).
