avg cost of emerald

snakeman54 Apr 06, 2006 09:18 PM

I was wondering at a reptile expo how much will a normal cbb emerald tree boa go for on average? I have gone to only 2 expos and have never really taken the time to observe the cost of tree boas plus I know show prices are generally cheaper than of the internet. Thanks to anyone who helps.

Prices for true CBB ETBs will be pretty much the same regardless whether you purchase at a show or from a breeder. The price will depend on the visual appeal of the animal...ranging from $300-1200 for Northerns and of course significantly more for Basins and other rarities. Personally, I would not sacrifice quality for the sake of price. However, most prices are negotiable. Purchase a CBB establish animal from a reputable breeder and you will have no worries. Hope this helps!

I don't go to many shows either, however the only ETBs I've seen for sale in those venues were W/C by dealers. They ask from $300 up, but they are not worth considering at all. Very sad.
By "normal" I am assuming northern type and regardless of source, I would expect to pay from $ 450 up for cbb. For that, I'd expect some contact with the actual breeder and a feed and shed record at least. One thing I am convinced of however, is the extra couple of hundred bucks is money well spent for piece of mind and reasonable assurance of a sound animal.
