My favorite Maroansetra

2by2 Apr 06, 2006 11:51 PM

I stole this guy for $200 almost 2 months ago at a local reptile show. At the time, I wasn't expecting anything special. I just wanted to add maroansetra to my collection.....But after 2 months he's proven to be much more than I bargained for.....and I'M LOVIN IT!! I just had to share....Enjoy!

Awesome! I too keep and breed Maroantsetras. If you were on the north side of the border I would definetly be emailing you right now to aquire new blood. Alas.

Very impressive. Offspring from these two guys look to me like they'd produce a fairly nice match! Man that hole border thing sucks.

Agreed. Damn CITES! ok, well not really, but its already in North america! I really like you high oranges in yours. Mine has a tad more Crayola red colour. But together it would be awesome. How many females do you have?

None yet, as I picked him up just recently.....However I do have my eyes on possibly a couple females from chameleon corral....I see she's selling some from a canadian breeder?!?! Would that just so happen to be you? And if so, are they babies from your guy? And lastly....if they are, that'll be the kicker. I gotta have the best females around for all my stuff, and if those babies came from that male you posted...I must have them. I gotta get rid of a couple things first, but I'll probably be emailing her very soon. I gotta get this guy producing ASAP!

Yes, if you buy from Chameleon Corral, they will be from whom I originally started my Maroantsetra breeding group from. Her name is Connie Dorval, a very private wholesaler from southern Ontario. he opperates under the company name "Arboreal Exotic". Many canadians complain about how her bloodlines are washed out, but it may be just the fact tthawe are completely and utterly jelous of all american chameleons and their vibrant colours. Not to mention your access to them.

In Canada the cameleons you would be buying, if at 3 months of age, would be sold for a minute, $200 CDN.

If you do get some, and have babies, I'd still love to get some from you, even though they would probably be related back 2 generations or so, with the added new genes of your amazing Male. Unfortunately I don't know if we could do business or how easy it would be with CITES.

Thats great! I bought my Nosy Be Chia from her at the last the second to last NARBC show in Philly. Great Gal. And I dont think her chams are washed out that much at all. She's got some great stock! And if you ask me, that maroansetra you've got there proves it!

Mind showing what your looks like at any given point during the day? Most common colours?

Sure thing. He's not to shabby looking when he's calm either....at least I dont think. Although he's nowhere near what he is when he fires up. I've also attatched a pic of my nosy I got from Connie.

WillHayward Apr 09, 2006 12:27 AM

Hmmm, hes more colourful than mine. Mine has much more vibrant greens, but the rest of his is a dark moroon/purple/close to black.

I'm one to enjoy solid blue, no read, Be's.

You dont happen to have any pics of your guy in his calm state do you?

And as for the nosy's. Most people do like the solid blue, no red nosy's better....including myself. Its just more pleasing to the eye. But it almost seems like everybody has them now. Its getting to the point where they're just to prevelent. Owning a solid blue nosy isn't all that rare any more.....

I'l try and find one for you.
