Locolizard Apr 07, 2006 11:28 AM

I have decided to go with MoonGlow for the name of the new hypo snow. I know some may agree and some may disagree, but Moonglow is the name

Again thanks to everyone who took time to post and call, i got more phone calls congratulating me than i expected, thanks to all of you boa enthusiasts out there! I hope to have several more exciting litters this season but im not sure if any will top the feeling from this experience

Good luck to the rest of you folks with your upcoming litters, I think its going to be another awesome year for boas!

Sincerely,
Mark

And thanks, that crazy colored hypo is the result of the Orangasm bloodline.

moonglow just doesn't sound right to me but you did produce the first Kahls, so you can call them whatever you want. I'm in the race to produce the first Sharp Hypo snows and if I do it first, the Sharp version will be Snowglows. Either way MAJOR CONGRATS again Mark!

I like Moonglow a lot. But I sort of agree with you. Keep the names for the Kahl and Sharp version different. This way you don't have to type Sharp Sunglow or Kahl Sunglow; just Moonglow and "Snowglow."

I guess it is kind of like Type I Snow is a Snow, and the Type II version is a Blizzard. Seperate names to keep things clear.

pythonregius35 Apr 07, 2006 05:04 PM

I've got to replace the kahls with sharps......cool.....NO WAY in hell, I'd ever post I have Moonglows..LOL..you would sound like you were a ******, well you get the point!!

Congrats again Mark. That Hypo is smokin. Love them all though

michaelburton Apr 07, 2006 05:05 PM

While I think the name moonglow is cool I don't think it fits the hypo snow. Snowglow just makes more sence to me. But what I think doesn't matter. Mark produced the first one and he picked the name moonglow and that IS the new name. I'm glad he saved the name snowglow for the sharp strain But for some reason I think some people will still refer to the Kahl strain as snowglows. Congrats again Mark.

......here also and say, go with the SnowGlow, SnowGlo or whatever way you want to spell it. I just think it sounds better and makes more sense as it is a Snow and a Sunglow, thus SnowGlow. It is however your boa to name as you are the first to produce it. Just giving my input if wanted.
Congrats to you and also Justin for your litters. Sorry Justin your's did not make it.
Congrats to all who have had litters so far this season. We are late as usual and should have babies by......hhmmmm.... X-Mas if we are lucky!! LOL
Take care,

earlier he should have a little say in the name and I know he's not diggin "MOONGLOW"! Yeah, his was stillborn but he still made the first one technically and I think he should have a say in it. Now I know stuff like that has happened before, Sharp sunglows for example. They were made before Ron Michelotti had his live litter but sunglows had already been around so their name was the same and the appearance was better cause of the Sharp strain but thats the only difference so Ron got the credit. We're talking about an animal NO ONE has seen and since Justin made it first, eventhough it was stillborn i'd say he has the right to be part of the naming. I mean come on, I know if it was the opposite and you(Mark)had one first but it was stillborn you'd want your credit and the chace to have an impact on the name. I'm in NO WAY trying to take from Marks limelite cause live is always better but I think Justin Higgs needs a little recognition for his litter. Now he's a little more modest but I know he'll have some pix sooner or later for people to check out cause he froze his. This is just my humble opinion but i'd love to hear what others think about the situation I just presented.

but premature and stillborn babies often do not have their exact colors.

Stillborn Hypos have looked like Ghosts, normals like Anerys. Who's to say a Snow might not look like a Hypo Snow.

Pete Kahl mentioned last year that he "may have" produced a Blizzard, but it was stillborn. It could have been an Albino, there is know way to be 100% sure unless it is alive.

So with that said, we should leave the name to the person who has the first live one. Sorry, Justin, but it's just my view on things. I hope you have some next time around!

The Avalanch doesn't fit at all and Bill wanted it as the name!Look at all the Ball Python morphs with names that dont mean anything. Its just for fun, I dont see how fitting means anything. Dan

michaelburton Apr 07, 2006 05:43 PM

While not all ball morphs have names that fit, I think most do. Albino, spider, Anery, clown, pinstripe, genetic stripe, bumble bee, lesser plat., and I'm sure there are a few others that I can't think of right now. All of these names seem to fit the look of the ball morph for the most part. Of course it doesn't need to fit but it just makes things easier and makes more sense. Just look at the name that Jeff Ronne gave to boas with reduced black pigment. Pastels??? This confuses a lot of people and is misused a lot. And now the pastel dreams that he sells are very pink, but like we hear over and over "pastels have nothing to do with color." I just think you should go for what makes the most sense. But like I said before what I think doesn't matter. At least he didn't stick to the name the socks boa.

I think the name fits. The moon looks an off white and the craters are darker like the saddles. I just think that the snowglo just isn't very creative. More things in this world are white other than snow.

I support Mark and his wilingness to do something different.

The Sunglow is named after the bright glowing sun color orange. The moon puts off a nice bright glow. I'm sure after a few sheds this boa will have a white lavender yellowish glow like the moon. It only seems right for it to be the Moonglow.
