Combat Pics

John Q Apr 08, 2006 08:51 AM

I was fortunate enough to witness two males in combat. I was also lucky enough to get a few pics of this on the sidewalk in front of my house. No female in site but there's some thick bush in the background where the snakes came out of and went back in after 15-20 minutes of combat.

I really liked looking at those. Thanks much for sharing! That would definitely be an awesome sight to see in the wild. Lucky you!

Those are some terrific shots, Ive never witnessed any combat with oreganus at a densite, one day perhaps...those helleri look pretty evenly matched. If that close, then you might see more action...

Great pix! I came to work one morning at Lion Country many years ago to see about twenty pairs of male cottonmouths doing that. Wish I had a camera..if so, I may have been able to get as many as half or them up in one shot. That was in a large pit that contained about 100 conanti.
