Substitute to Bromeliads

Spar Jul 29, 2003 03:19 PM

I have finally gotten sick of having no success with my Bromeliads. I am sure it is because I never drain them, and the only form of watering is through my humidifier, but nonetheless, I am still sick of keeping Brom's in my 30 gallon setup.

Can I get a few recommendations of some smaller plants with thick leaves like a Bromeliad? I hate to take away one of their sleeping places, so a type of plant that they could tuck into would be nice too. I only have about 1 foot high of space to work with so a short plant would be needed also.

You might try some of the sansevaria. Be careful about drainage. They don't like really wet feet, but mine seem to be doing very well.
